"Labels are for cans, not people"
When you buy a car do you buy it based on what people think of you? We try hard to make a good impression on other people, however, sometimes we get carried away. The people expected Jesus to ride into Jerusalem as a hero, to overthrow the King and kick out the Romans.....the expected a Patton, what they got was a Gandhi. This Sunday the people welcome Jesus into Jerusalem with open arms, in just a few days they will be crying, "Crucify Him"
The Scripture Text for this week was From Exodus 34: 1-7 and is read from the Life Recovery Bible by Tyndal Press. Ed is a pastor of a large congregation, he has ALS. In Part 5 Ed talks about forgiving people in his congregation that he has harmed, in recovery terms he is making amends. The church has some amends making to do, relationships that need repairing. How do you have to forgive?
Today we explore Steps 11 and 12.
Today we look at Step 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, possible except when to do so would injure them or others.
Today we look into Step 8
Today we look into Steps 6 - 7.
Step 6 - Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
Step 7 - Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.
Today we explore Step 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
Today we explore Step 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Today we cover Step Three.
Make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
Today we cover Step Two.
Came to believe that a power greater than us can restore us to sanity.
Today we cover Step One.
Admitted that we are powerless over our addiction and our lives have become un-manageable.
When you fell that your are NOT receiving you "just re-wards" compared to others, what do you do to get back in focus with just yourself?
Life is a series of stories, some good stories, some not so good stories, Share a story, either good or bad, of your mother, your life as a mother, that has had an impact on your life.
We are not alone, we live in God's world. We believe in God, who has created and is creating. We believe in a God who reveals Him or Herself to each of us in many different ways in love. We believe that God came down in the person of Jesus, the word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and the others by the spirit. We believe that through the power of our Higher Power we will live a life in recovery, and in so doing, live a life in community with all of God's children. God has called us to a life of service within our world, so that by our examples, God will be made known to others. Amen
