Feb 3 Recovery Sermon; How do I know the will of God?

We are taught in recovery to pray for God's will in our life and the strength to carry that will out. Well, how do we know when something is the will of God? Scripture says that everything is planed out for us in the "Book of Life" really? Do we have a choice, can we say know to the will of God? A lot depends on your view of God, is you view of God that of a Master Puppeteer who controls all that happens by a pull on a string? Or is God more like an earthly parent who has a plan for us but in the end we have the free will to choose what we do.
